ALEX ROBERTS:

OWNER/LEAD INSTRUCTOR

Alex Roberts has over 20 years experience teaching art professionally.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and is working toward her Master's Degree at UMASS Dartmouth. Alex’s approach to teaching young artists is playful and warm, valuing the process over the product.  Her strengths lie in her ability to create authentic art programming that develops creative thinking skills, self-identity, and cultural awareness.

Alex celebrates the creative spirit in each child, getting to know their learning styles, and making them feel valued. Her goal is to provide students with the skills and environment necessary to understand the empowerment of art, as it did for her as a shy child.

Dot to Dot Art Workshop was Alex’s long running dream to create an inspiring space for the community to connect and share the creative experience. She currently spreads joy through art education here at Dot to Dot Art Workshop, and The Laurel School, Brewster. Alex is proud to periodically offer grant funded programming for families through Cape Cod Children’s Place. Her previous experience includes teaching art at Wellfleet Elementary School and the Cape Cod Museum of Art.

In her own work, Alex utilizes multimedia, exploring themes ranging from identity to biology. You can find Alex out exploring with her two daughters, Emelia and Ellery.  Or enjoying music with her husband, Jake. She is an artist, mother, and lover of nature, humor, and Prince.

SUSAN BIVONA:

INSTRUCTOR

Hi, I’m Susan Bivona - I have over 30 years of experience teaching elementary art and hold a Master’s Degree in Art Education.  I am enthusiastic and I believe creativity is contagious!  I love meeting young artists -- encouraging them to take risks and inspiring them to grow.  Making connections with students by creating a safe & creative learning environment is one of my top priorities!

I am excited to be here at Dot to Dot Art Workshop!  I just retired and moved to Cape Cod in December, 2021. We are in Harwich and I was thrilled to find this GEM of a children’s art studio right in my own backyard.  I am looking forward to working with Alex and developing new and inviting classes for your children!
