FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & POLICIES

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I stay with my child during class?
Most classes for ages 5+ are drop-off at this time. Caregivers are welcome for our youngest studio programs, such as ART + PLAY, and independence is gently encouraged when appropriate.

Do you offer drop-ins or rainy-day visits?
Dot to Dot is a small, registration-based studio and does not currently offer drop-ins or same-day rainy-day visits. We are always dreaming up thoughtful ways to open the studio more often, so stay tuned for future pop-ups, workshops, and family studio opportunities.

Do you offer aprons or smocks?
Aprons are available, but please dress your child in clothing you do not mind getting artfully messy. A messy day usually means a fun and creative day.

My child has additional needs. Can they take classes at Dot to Dot?
We welcome all children and want every child to feel supported at Dot to Dot. While our staff does not have formal training in special education, we are always happy to learn from caregivers about what helps their child feel comfortable, successful, and included in class.

I am a practicing artist with teaching experience. Can I teach a class at Dot to Dot Art Workshop?
Yes. We are always excited to connect with local artists and creative educators who have something meaningful and fun to offer children, families, or adults. Contact Alex to share your vision, and depending on scheduling and availability, we may be able to develop a class or workshop together. You can also visit our Teach Here or Rent our Space pages for more information.

General Studio Policies

Doors open at the scheduled class or program start time. We ask that children be picked up promptly at the listed end time.

If your child is ill or showing signs of becoming sick, please keep them home. We do not offer make-up classes for absences at this time.

Tuition must be paid in full to reserve your child’s place. Payment may be made through online registration or by check, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

If a class or program must be canceled due to an emergency, a make-up class will be scheduled and announced whenever possible. If that is not possible, other arrangements will be made by the instructor.

If someone other than a parent or guardian will be picking up your child, please notify staff in advance. We will not release a student to anyone who has not been authorized by you.

Class sessions and programs may be canceled due to low enrollment. If that happens, families will be contacted as soon as possible and may choose to move into another available Dot to Dot program or receive a full refund.

Weather Cancellations

If there is a weather-related cancellation, Dot to Dot Art Workshop will contact families as soon as possible by email through Sawyer. A social media announcement may also be made when appropriate.

Weather make-up weeks may be built into some school-year class sessions. If a weather make-up date is available, families will be notified.

Cancellation Policy

Weekly Art Class Sessions

Refunds will be issued for cancellations made 2 weeks or more before the class session start date, less a 10% processing fee.

Studio credit will be given for cancellations made inside 2 weeks and at least 1 week before the class session start date.

No refunds, credits, make-ups, or take-home materials will be given for missed classes due to illness, vacation, schedule conflicts, or other absences.

Studio Gatherings + Special Programs

This includes Kids Night Out, Family Studio, CREATE + CONNECT Studio Night, Vacation Studio Days, Seasonal Pop-Ups, and other special programs.

Because these programs are limited in size and planned in advance, refunds or credits are not guaranteed for cancellations or missed programs.

If you need to cancel, please contact Alex as soon as possible. When possible, and with enough notice, we may be able to offer a studio credit or open the spot to another participant.

Summer Programming

Refunds will be issued if a parent or guardian cancels registration before June 1, less a 10% processing fee.

Studio credit will be offered for cancellations made at least 2 weeks prior to the program start date.

No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes or program days due to absence, including illness.

Pro-Rating

We are happy to welcome newcomers into a session, provided there is space in the class. When possible, tuition will be prorated accordingly.

Photo Release

We may take photographs of children while they are creating in the studio and use those images for promotional purposes. If you prefer that your child not be photographed, please let us know.
